Safety information
The following general safety precautions must be observed during all phases of operation of the GAR unit. Failure to comply with these precautions or with specific warnings elsewhere in this manual violates safety standards of design, manufacture, and intended use of the instrument. Gladiator Forensics assumes no liability for the customer’s failure to comply with these requirements.
Intended use
Any interruption of the protective (grounding) conductor (inside or outside the GAR unit) or disconnecting the protective earth terminal will cause a potential shock hazard that could result in personal injury. (Grounding one conductor of a two conductor outlet is not sufficient protection).
Whenever it is likely that the protection has been impaired, the GAR unit must be made inoperative and be secured against any unintended operation.
No Operator serviceable parts inside. Refer servicing to qualified personnel. To prevent electric shock do not remove covers.
Capacitors inside the GAR unit may still be charged even if the GAR unit has been disconnected from its source of supply.
Before applying power protective earthing installation warning
The mains plug shall only be inserted in a socket outlet provided with a protective earth contact. Any interruption of the protective conductor inside or outside of the GAR unit is likely to make the GAR unit dangerous. Intentional interruption is prohibited.
WARNING: Install the GAR unit so that the detachable power cord is readily identifiable and is easily reached by the operator. The detachable power cord is the GAR unit disconnecting device. It disconnects the mains circuits from the mains supply before other parts of the GAR unit. The power cord switch is only a standby switch and is not a LINE switch.
Do not remove the GAR unit cover
Operating personnel must not remove GAR unit covers. Only qualified service personnel must make component replacement and internal adjustments. GAR units that appear damaged or defective should be made inoperative and secured against unintended operation until qualified service personnel can repair them.
Do not operate in an explosive atmosphere
Do not operate the GAR unit in the presence of flammable gases or fumes.
